Obituary for Virginia Cardwell Holley Wood

Virginia Cardwell Holley Wood was born on March 4, 1930, and stepped into heaven after a long, beautiful life on November 18, 2022, at her granddaughter Dana Hawkins' home in Daphne AL.

She is survived by her sons George Wayne (Ellaine) Holley, California, James Robert "Jimmy" Holley, Titus, Arthur Michael (Tonya) Holley of Clanton, Son-in-law George Hopson of Titus. Grandchildren Chris Holley, James (Rachel) Bruno, Jr, Dana Pickern (Chris) Hawkins, Megan Pickern (Matt) Wallis, Tommy Pickern, Nikki Holley, Stephen (Nancy) Holley, Christopher (Donna) Chamness, Jeremy Chamness, Christina "Missy" (Shane) Gros, and Jason (Tracey) Hopson. 25 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Sisters Tempie Jo Cardwell Roberson, Emma Lou "Lucy" Cardwell Wilson, and numerous nieces & nephews. She also had her Bonus Wood family of Gwin (Martha Kaye) Wood, Sue Ellen Wood (Henry) Tucker, Johnnie Wood, and Jimmie Lee Wood (Ricky) Crowe with an additional 18 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 8 great, great grandchildren. Mrs. Holley Wood was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Mae Rose Cardwell, 2 husbands James Coy Holley and Adolph L Wood, daughters Karen Coyette Holley, Janice Carol Holley Hopson, Vickey Marie Holley (Danny) Pickern, Mary Ann Wood (Grady Sr) Rowe and son Gerald (Peggy) Wood. Grandsons Mark Anthony Holley, Grady Rowe Jr, Robert Applin, Bubba Wood and Stephen Gerald Wood. Brother Charles Tillman Cardwell (Patsy), sister Neomi Cardwell (Johnnie) Holman and Brother-in-Law Bonnie Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Gassett Funeral Home in Wetumpka. Funeral services will follow, at 11:00 a.m. Her son Bro. Johnnie Wood & Pastor Douglas McKinney will be officiating. She will be buried beside the Husband of her children and oldest daughter Coyette at Wayside Baptist Church in south Coosa County.

The family would like to thank Comfort Care Hospice of Daphne AL. and Ivey Creek Hospice of Wetumpka for their care of our loved one during the last year of her life.
