Obituary for Mr. George Harold Cason

CASON, Mr. George Harold of the Lightwood Community went home to Glory at the age of 80, on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Union Congregational Christian Church with Pastor Jason Tew officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.

Mr. Cason is preceded in death by his mother and stepdad, Recy & H.O. Lawrence; grandparents, Calvin & Molly Jones; brother, Jerry Cason; brother-in-law, Phillip Morris; mother and father-in-law, Ed & Alma Blankenship; and nephew, James Blankenship.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Cone (Jim Caton); granddaughters, Erin (Neil) Sims, Kamra (Michael) Templin; great-grandchildren, RhyLynn Sims, Cotes Sims, Ryker Templin; sisters Charlotte Morris, Brenda (Al) Kelley; nephews, Ray (Kay) Blankenship, Frank Blankenship, Greg Blankenship, Jason (Donna) Blankenship, Rodney (LeAnne) Blankenship; many great nieces, nephews, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Neil Sims, Michael Templin, Roy (Chuck) Billings, David Moncrief, Tom McGlamry, and Jerry Pittman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Caton and Ray Blankenship.

Harold was a faithful member of Union Congregational Christian Church for many years.
