Obituary for Larry Joseph Pickett Sr.
Larry Joseph Pickett, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully at his home on May 15, 2023, in Wetumpka, Alabama.
Larry was born on September 23, 1942 to Carl and Juanita Pickett in Montevallo, Alabama. He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene (Jackson) Pickett; his two sons, Larry Joseph (Joe) Pickett, Jr. and Michael Pickett; one granddaughter, Emily Pickett; and his brother Mike Pickett (Joan) and niece Lori Beth and her family.
Larry pursued a career in education, graduating from Montevallo and then furthering his education at Troy University, obtaining a Master’s degree in Educational Administration. In his 50 plus years in education, he not only taught and coached football, baseball, and golf, he was the headmaster at Edgewood Academy, Pike Liberal Arts, and Autauga Academy. He touched the lives of thousands of children and adults who adored and loved him. When he wasn’t working, Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Larry on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. on the football field at Autauga Academy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Autauga Academy or Edgewood Academy.
