Obituary for Joyce (Wood) Chandler
Joyce Wood Chandler, 83 years old, of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away at her home on Friday January 27, 2023 of natural causes.
Joy was born on November 25,1939 to Ray and Dolllie Wood in Madison County Georgia.
After Graduating High School, she went on to marry the love of her life. She spent the rest of her life serving Our Lord, her family and many friends.
Joy and Jerry knew each other for most of their younger lives and eventually married on June 8,1957. They went on to have a daughter (Cheryl) and a son (Randy).
In 2004, Joy retired and spent her time being active with her Church family, enjoyed caring for and loving her great-grandchildren and her favorite activity of gardening.
Joy was predeceased by her parents Ray and Dollie Wood, brother Grady Wood and sister Elaine Altice.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry Chandler, daughter Cheryl (Mack) Free, son Randy Chandler, Grandchildren Meagan (Daniel) Daly, Michael (Kristin) Chandler and great-grandchildren, Addie Daly, Joseph Daly, Rylie Chandler and Caden Lockhart.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church with Rev. Robert Mullins officiating. Burial will be at Davis Memorial Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took my hand; The angel said my place was ready, in Heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven's Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me "Welcome Home." So when tomorrow starts without me don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart.
