Obituary for Jewel Jeanette Bender Welch
WELCH, Jewel Jeanette Bender, a resident of Holtville, Alabama passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the age of 90.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with Justin Bice officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Charles “Charlie” Welch; parents John & Beulah Bender; brothers William Bender and Robert Bender; sisters Fannie Belle Gilmore and Catherine Hollingshead.
Mrs. Jewel is survived by her sons Charles “Pete” Welch Jr., Richard (Anne) Welch, Gregory Welch; grandchildren Chad (Tabatha) Welch, Bridget (Mark) Redden, Becky (Ricky) Harris, Nicci Welch, Brittney (Justin) Bice, Clayton (Courtney) Welch, Charlie Welch, Grayson Welch; 16 great-grandchildren; and many friends whom she loved as her own family.
Mrs. Jewel volunteered 18 years at the Elmore County 4-H club, 40 years with the Holtville Fire and Rescue Department Auxiliary with 8 years as the Vice Chair, and 52 years with Lowndes County & Elmore County Homemakers Club. She exemplified her life motto of seeking the best for everyone and loving everybody with respect.
Pallbearers will be Chad Welch, Clayton Welch, Gauge Redden, Dalton Redden, Colton Bice, and Gus Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Welch, Grayson Welch, Alex Welch, Isaiah Lassiter, Nehemiah Crocker, Grady Bice, Emmett Welch, and the members of Holtville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
