Obituary for Jean (Blackwell) Robinson
ROBINSON, Jean Blackwell, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the age of 98.
Jean was born on November 2, 1924 in the Lightwood community of Elmore County to Angus E. and Ellen Nancy Glasscock Blackwell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Chester, Russell, and Claudie Blackwell and her sister, Berta Ficquette; and daughter, Sandra McClendon.
Jean is survived by her son, John Robinson and grandchildren, Stacey McClendon Price, Jarrett McClendon, and Kelly Robinson Chasteen; great-grandchildren, Taylor Elliott Walker, John Darden, Lane Price, Chase Price, and Steele McClendon; great great-grandchildren, Khloe Price, Kori Price, Liam Elliot, Evelynn Walker, and Riley Walker.
Graveside service will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at The Wetumpka City Cemetery with Arnold Fuller officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jarrett McClendon, Lane Price, Chase Price, Steele McClendon, John Darden, and Corey Walker.
Jean was a business women before it was common for women to be in business. She was the daughter, wife, and mother of Elmore County Lumbermen and played a part in the business of all three. She was a farmer, raising both crops and animals. She was in the Real Estate business both as a realtor and an investor.
She was active until the end both mentally and physically, doing exercises in her bed, saying she needed to get her strength back from her last illness.
Family and friends will assemble at the gravesite.
