Obituary for James Edward "Jim" Sepan

SEPAN, James Edward “Jim” a resident of Wetumpka, Alabama passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at the age of 77.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10:45 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with Father Alex Valladeres officiating.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sophie Szczepanski and two sisters Doris Lubetski and Judy Urlacher. He is survived by his wife Diane Sepan, sons James E. Szczepanski, Jr., Jimmy (Christie) Gray, David (Julie) Gray, grandchildren Cooper, Gracie, Aarick (Cara), David Jr. (Brooke), Payton, Dawson, Campbell, and Piper, great-grandchildren Wes and Drew, sisters Terry Cole and Evie (Bob) Bakic, brother George Szczepanski, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. When he was no longer able to attend, he faithfully watched mass every Sunday on TV.

Jim was a proud Marine, who served during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Bien Hoa.

Jim was a member of the Montgomery Civitan club where he worked on the fundraising events. He was honored in 2018 when he was named a Fellow. A high honor in the Civitan organization.

Jim and Diane shared a love of dancing and traveling. They were members of two square dancing clubs for many years and traveled the southeast to various dances.

Jim and Diane traveled extensively. In 2008 they went on Jim’s dream trip, driving to Alaska pulling a travel trailer. Jim was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and made numerous trips back to visit family and friends. He found an RV park in northern Wisconsin where he and Diane spent time in the summer.

Jim was proud of his grandchildren and would show their pictures and brag about them to everyone who would listen. He took them to the circus and rodeo every year and would have his own birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese so they would have fun. He was a good husband. He was kind, generous, and loving.
