Obituary for Glenda Futral Spigner

On Wednesday afternoon, February 7, 2024, Glenda passed away at home
surrounded by her children. She was born June 30, 1935, to Luther and Vera
(Tanton) Futral in Alabama.

She was a resident of Montgomery, AL for almost forty-five years.

Glenda is survived by her son LaBaris "Barcy" (Dale) Spigner of Winston-Salem, NC;
her daughter Kalicia Spigner Sides of Montgomery, AL; four grandchildren, Leyton,
Blayne, and Cordin Spigner and Skylar Sides; three great-grandsons and one great-
granddaughter; as well as two brothers, Marlyn (Melba) Futral and Leaburn (Anna
Lee) Futral and a multitude of nieces and nephews and of great-nieces and

Glenda was predeceased by her husband of over 67 years, George H. Spigner, her
parents; two children, George H. Spigner, Jr. and Veronica Spigner; and six brothers
and sisters.

Glenda was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a fantastic cook
and baker and to her family, she exemplified the very definition of “home maker.”
She made holidays magical. Often times Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner had
anywhere from 15-50 people. Noone ever left her house hungry and her most
obvious way of showing affection was through her cooking and baking. Her holiday
spread was always incredible, and it was a point of sadness for her when she could
no longer continue to cook as she once had. Her house was always clean and jokes
were often made that her floors were clean enough to eat off. Glenda was outgoing, fun loving and often down right sassy. She loved her family fiercely. These few words can in no way convey the depth of who she was, but offers only a glimpse.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at
Gassett Funeral Home, Wetumpka, AL. The service will be Saturday, February 17,
2024 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Holiness Church with Reverend Eugene Futral and
Reverend Joseph Futral officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Bethel’s cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Leyton Spigner, Blayne Spigner, Cordin Spigner, Mac Baker, Marvis Futral and Laron Futral.
