Obituary for Donald E. Dunnivan

Donald E. Dunnivan, a resident of Lake Martin, Alabama, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023. Don was the sixth of seven children, born in 1943, to John Lawrence Dunnivan and Annie Ruth McCain Dunnivan in Montgomery, Alabama. Having been raised in Montgomery, he worked for Montgomery Advertiser, delivering, and collecting fees for newspapers at age 14. Don was employed with Albany International, Appleton Wire Division, retiring after 37 years.

Often, he would say with a good work ethic, you can do anything.
Hard work and integrity always win. A lot of hard work went in to living on
Lake Martin for Don and wife Neddie Woodall Dunnivan.
They thought seeing the sun rise and set over the water was where they
wanted to be. Boating was a large hobby for Don. He was the MacGyver
of the boat and a lot of other things, often repairing, restoring, or inventing
ways to make one run. A "mechanical genius", he was often referred as. On
weekends Captain Don was often seen in his iconic 1976 Carver "Dream Catcher".

Don is survived by his wife of 46 years, Neddie Woodall Dunnivan,
two sons, Donald E. Dunnivan, Jr., and Jeffrey Warner Dunnivan
Sisters, Kathy Simpson and Linda Wagner;
He was preceded in death by brother, Larry Dunnivan and sisters.
Geraldine Thorn, Delores Johnson and Pat Rutan
