Obituary for Charles Edward "Charlie" Mulcahy

MULCAHY, Charles Edward “Charlie” , a resident of Wetumpka, Alabama passed away Monday, June 6. 2022 at the age of 57.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Coosada Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Graham, Rev. J.P. Cannon; and Jason Mulcahy officiating. Burial will be at Davis Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.

Charlie is preceded in death by his brother James Leroy Mulcahy; father Robert Tyus; grandmother Elizabeth “Mama Bett” Cannon; and grandfather Harold L. Cannon. He is survived by his wife of 20 years Melanie Murphy Mulcahy; children Jessica Mulcahy Fullerton (Aaron Fullerton), Justin Billingsley ( Brittany Billingsley), Brianne Billingsley Hawkins (Dustin Hawkins), Brittany Mulcahy Mercer (Roy Mercer), and Charles Garrett Mulcahy (Mary Mulcahy); mother Mary Cannon Tyus; brothers and sisters Lydia Mulcahy Gallardo (Raul “PJ” Gallardo), Jennifer Mulcahy Lewis (Winston Lewis), and Jason Lee Mulcahy (Michelle Mulcahy), T J Wonder, C J Willis (Vince Willis), Samuel Tyus (Julie Tyus); grandchildren Anilexa Serritelli, Aiden, Alec, Asher, and Alayna Fullerton, Mason and Annmarie Bennett, Danielle Billingsley, Evelyn Hawkins, Hope and Isabella Mercer, and Oliver Mulcahy.

Pallbearers will be Tommye Cannon, Dennis Cannon, Chan Lowe, Sam Tyus, Jim Foshee, and Brandon Truitt.

He graduated from Stanhope Elmore High School in 1983 where he loved playing football. He attended the University of Alabama where he was a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He was employed as the Executive Director of The Harbor at Hickory Hills in Prattville, Alabama, where he loved providing eldercare through assisted living and memory care. Charlie worked with senior citizens over 15 years and brought much joy and laughter to everyone whom he came in contact with.

Charlie was well known for his comedic fun and laughter and strong encouragement. He touched so many lives by his witness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His favorite verse of scripture-John 15:13- Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. He was a member of Coosada Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.
