Obituary for Alex Wayne Cumbie

Alex Wayne Cumbie, 32, a resident of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away on November 26, 2022 in a single vehicle accident on Highway 9.

Alex was born on May 9, 1990, to Hubert Wayne Cumbie & Barbara Lee Leach in Bremerton, Washington. Alex was a beautiful child with the most beautiful blue eyes and an infectious smile.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Point Community Church with Pastor Tim Johnson and Henry Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.

Alex was very talented and a hard worker. He was always proud of the work he did and learned from his father at an early age that all work is noble work. Before Alex was 16, he began working at Arnauds, a butcher shop in Montgomery, learning to debone chickens, make “Turduckens” and many other creole specialities. He went on to learn various other skills through the years, from fabricating duct work, to operating a fork lift, to running a crew of landscapers for a large company in Montgomery. Eventually Alex started his own landscaping business and was so proud of the work he did for others. He recently started working for the Elmore County landfill to find more stable work with benefits for his family. His supervisor indicated that he was like a sponge, he wanted to do the best he could at whatever he did.

Alex met his wife, Tiffany Nichole (Tucker) Cumbie in 2012 and in 2013, Tiffany gave birth to Silas Wayne Cumbie, their only child. Silas was Alex’s whole world from that day on. Alex gave of himself selflessly to see that his wife and child’s needs were met.

Alex had a deep love of the Lord and spoke of Him often, especially in his last months.

Alex was proceeded in death by his grandfather, Doug Salter, his grandmothers, Catherine Louise Cumbie and Ann Crowder Blanchard. Alex is survived by his wife, Tiffany Nichole Cumbie; his son, Silas Wayne Cumbie; his parents, Hubert Wayne Cumbie and Barbara Lee Leach; his step parents Laura Angela Cumbie and Robert Leach; siblings Darrell Leach, Kelsea Cumbie, Kailey Cumbie; his grandmother, Wanda Jean Mewbourn. He leaves behind two lifelong friends that were more like brothers, John Hunter Henderson, and Nicholas Daniel.

Alex will be greatly missed by those here on earth but, has been reunited with those that have already passed and is comforted by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Henderson, Mitch Savage, Matthew Tucker, Nicholas Edwards, Nicholas Daniel, Joshua Williams, Darrell Leach, and honorary pallbearer Cheyanne Brown.
